The Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) at Management and Science University (MSU) is offered through the School of Veterinary Medicine (SOV), which is the first veterinary school in a private university accredited by the Malaysian Veterinary Council (MVC) and Malaysian Quality Assurance (MQA). This program addresses the growing demand for veterinary professionals by adopting a forward-thinking approach to animal health, public health, and food security.
The DVM curriculum emphasizes clinical training, the One Health principle, and field-based learning, equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary for diverse veterinary careers. Students benefit from real-world experience through strong industry partnerships, hands-on clinical exposure, and global academic linkages.
The DVM program is structured into three phases over five years:
Preclinical Years (Years 1-2): Introduction to animal production and health, veterinary anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, nutrition, animal welfare, and livestock industry training.
Paraclinical Years (Year 3): Courses in veterinary pathology, bacteriology, virology, parasitology, and laboratory industry training begin in the second year but are mainly focused in the third year.
Clinical Years (Years 4-5): Clinical courses in veterinary surgery, veterinary medicine, veterinary diseases, and clinical practice commence in the third year and continue through the fourth and final years. The final year consists of two semesters focused exclusively on veterinary clinical practice, involving rotations in various units of the veterinary teaching hospital.
This comprehensive program prepares graduates to excel in veterinary medicine and contribute to animal and public health initiatives.
