The Master of Science in Biotechnology (By Research) at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) focuses on the application of biological systems and cellular components in biotechnology, integrating knowledge from microbiology, biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, chemistry, and chemical and process engineering. The programme provides students with a strong theoretical and practical foundation in modern biotechnological techniques and applications, while developing an in-depth understanding of cellular and molecular biology. Research opportunities cover areas such as functional genomics, natural products and chemical biology, stem cell biology, structural biology, and protein chemistry.
